What it does
No window to manage and no Dock icon. FlowSnip stays out of the way until you press a key, then gets out of the way again.
Press the hotkey, say what you need, and hear Grok answer out loud. Hit Escape to stop early.
⌃⌥ SpaceGo back and forth hands-free with live captions on screen. It keeps listening until you press Escape or the hotkey.
⌃⌥⇧ SpaceTap to latch or hold to talk. English dictation via xAI. The text lands on your clipboard, and can optionally paste itself into the app you’re using.
⇧⌘ 1Grab the screen and FlowSnip reads the text on-device with Apple Vision, then you can ask about it. Add a voice note if you like.
⌘⌥⇧ 2Highlight text anywhere, press the shortcut, and hear a short summary. Then follow up by voice. The text is saved to your history.
⌘⌥⇧ CType the start of an app name and press Return. It also finds System Settings panes like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Keyboard.
⌘ SpaceText and image history, favorites, a prompt library and saved conversations, kept on your Mac. Grok can recall them when you ask.
Pick from 28 Grok voices (default: Ara) and set playback speed. Build agents with their own voice, personality, notes and hotkey; they share one memory. Optionally speak with ElevenLabs.
A soft light that shines from the bottom of your screen. Toggle it with a shortcut and dim it from the menu.
⇧⌘ LHow it works
Open the DMG, drag FlowSnip to Applications and launch it. The icon appears in your menu bar. Allow microphone access when macOS asks.
Paste your xAI API key in Settings. The key is stored in your macOS Keychain.
Press ⌃⌥ Space to ask, or ⌃⌥⇧ Space to talk. Every shortcut can be remapped from the menu.
Ask & Talk
Ask for a quick answer, or hold a conversation with live captions floating on screen. FlowSnip uses xAI’s Grok realtime voice, so answers come back as streamed speech.

Capture
Pick what to capture and FlowSnip reads it with Apple’s on-device Vision OCR first. Text-heavy pages are understood straight away, and the extracted text can go into Ask or Talk.

Launcher & clipboard
The launcher opens apps and System Settings panes from the keyboard. The clipboard keeps what you copy, so a link from this morning is still there (up to the history limit you set).
/Applications, ~/Applications and system apps. Remap the key if Spotlight already owns ⌘Space.Illustration · sample content
Settings
Six tabs cover everything: AI, Memory, API keys, Agents, Light and About. Every shortcut can be remapped from the menu without opening Settings.

Privacy
FlowSnip has no FlowSnip account, and we found no analytics, telemetry or crash reporting in its code. Here is exactly where your data lives and what leaves your machine.
Your use of xAI’s voice service is governed by xAI’s own terms and your own account. FlowSnip does not proxy your audio or text through a server of ours. Memory is searched only when you explicitly ask Ask or Talk to recall something.
System requirements
